Company A, 12th New Hampshire Infantry

Originally formed in 2004 as a unit within the Sons of Veterans Reserve (SVR), which is the uniformed and military arm of the Sons of Union Veterans, it relinquished its charter in 2012. The company is still involved in encampments and living histories, but is run as an independent group outside of the SUVCW.

One event that has become an annual occurrence for the 12th NH is their encampment in New Durham, NH. First begun in 2003, five months prior to the company even receiving it's official charter, the soldiers of Company A set up a living history camp at the Cullimore Farm on Ridge Rd. This is a free weekend event that gives the public a chance to view the Civil War soldiers daily life and routine. The yearly event is co-hosted by the New Durham Historical Society, whose members have tables set-up nearby with historical displays and numerous items (including baked goodies!) for sale. The proceeds from their weekend sale (and any donations contributed to the cause) go towards the Civil War Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to a New Durham student currently attending their first year of college.
